This is for you if… people keep saying they called you, but your phone never rang and the call went straight to voicemail.
I was helping someone in Newmarket not long ago who thought their phone had stopped working. The problem was much simpler: a focus mode was silencing calls and a network setting was pushing missed calls to voicemail.
Why calls can go straight to voicemail
This can happen because Do Not Disturb is switched on, the phone has no signal, the number is blocked, call forwarding is enabled, the SIM is having a network issue, or the phone needs a restart.
Quick checks to try first
- Turn Airplane Mode on for ten seconds, then off again.
- Restart your phone.
- Check Do Not Disturb, Focus, Sleep Mode or Quiet Mode.
- Make sure the caller has not been blocked by mistake.
- Check your phone has signal and mobile service.
Check call forwarding and unknown caller settings
Some phones can forward calls to voicemail or silence numbers that are not in your contacts. This can be useful, but it can also hide genuine calls from doctors, delivery drivers or family using a new number.
When to contact your network
If every caller goes to voicemail even after restarting, contact your mobile network. Ask them to check your voicemail, SIM and call forwarding settings from their side.
